GUANGZHOU : Hong Siew Hui,18, a school leaver, of Taman Bersatu, Simpang Empat, Kedah is now resting at her room at Fuda Cancer Hospital after her first tumour operation on 7th June.
She underwent a procedure called "Cryosurgery Therapy" (cryoablation) to partially remove her tumour by stages where Fuda Cancer Hospital vice-president / associate prof Niu Li-zhi injecting argon(helium) into her tumour to block the blood circulation inside the tumour and later on damaged the tumour/it's tissue by freezing the tumour at minus 160 degrees Celsius.

The freezing procedure took about one and a half hour.

Siew Hui was wheeled out from the operation theatre which she entered at 2.30pm on Wednesday and left at 5.15pm. She is a weak and conscious condition with some tears in her eyes.

Professor Xu Ke-Cheng when visited Siew Hui at her room on the next morning (8th June) said "she will be facing tumour edematous problem, wommiting, heart-beat increased to 147, blood pressure increased to 128/80 and she will be having fever by now,"

"These are normal to a patient like her. If these not occurred then we will be worried," he said.

He said Siew Hui further operation will be depending on the out-come of the first procedure.
If everything showed positive signs, surgery will be continue on the second weeks, stage by stage to partially `freezing' the tumour again until all the tumour remove.

"I have been monitoring her condition for the whole night after her operation. She is in a stable condition now," said associate professor Niu Li-Zhi.

Earlier, Deputy Education Minister of Malaysia Datuk Hon Choon Khim accompanied by Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage Datuk Wong Kam Hoong and President of Federation of Malaysian Hakka Association Datuk Goh Teik Fan (please check the spelling) visited her and Tan Kia Khim. They extended their moral supports to Hong's mother and Kia Khim's father.They later handing over donation total up to ren-min-bi of 2700 to them with some hampers. The two ministers are in Guangzhou attending a programme known as "Malaysian Chinese Politicians Roots Tracing Group" to China organised by Federation of Malaysia Hakka Association.
