ALOR STAR: The two youths with large growth on their faces will be leaving to China for preliminary medical check-up and possible treatment soon but they are still short of about RM125,000.
The Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall (KCAH) has so far raised RM75,000 to send SPM school leaver Hong Siew Hui,18, and coffee shop worker Tan Kia Khim, 25, to Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guang-zhou for treatment.
Alor Star MP Datuk Chor Chee Heung, who is also KCAH advisor, said that although the response to the fund-raising campaign was overwhelming, the amount collected was not enough.
“In view of the complicated procedures, we are afraid more funds would be needed,” he said after visiting Siew Hui at her home in Taman Bersatu Empat here yesterday.
Donors can send cheques made out to “KCAH Special Medical Fund” to the assembly hall at No 8, Jalan Tanjung Bendahara, 05300 Alor Star, or deposit the money into Public Bank account number 3135-78-032-4. For details, call O4-7354016.
