ALOR STAR: School leaver Hong Siew Hui who underwent a preliminary facial tumour operation in China recently was all smiles when the Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou threw a birthday party for her.
Hong, who turned 18, said: “This is the first time I am celebrating my birthday in a foreign country.
“I hope to have a successful operation and return home soon. This is my birthday wish,” she said before she blew out the candles on the birthday cake.
Hospital staff attended the party held in her room on the 7th floor of the hospital.
They presented her with a bouquet of flowers, toys and a painting.
Another Kedahan Tan Kia Khim, 25, who successfully underwent a facial tumour surgery at the same hospital, also joined in the celebra-tion.
“I wish her a successful operation,’’ said Tan, who will return home on July 18.
Tan from Kampung Berjaya, near here, and Hong were operated a day apart.
While Tan’s surgery was carried out within one day, Hong had to undergo several operations.
Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall (KCAH) organised a fund raising campaign to send both for the treatment.
